欢迎大家回来，在上一节课里，我们说到，丑小鸭一个人在湖面上过冬，差点被冻死，被一个农夫救回家以后，因为害怕人类会伤害他，又逃了出来，然后春天来了，丑小鸭发现自己可以飞了。 经过季节的洗礼，风暴的锤炼，他的翅膀长得很强壮了。

今天的音频里，我们接下来要讲的是关于[White swan 白天鹅]、[children 一群孩子们]，还有 [three swans 三只天鹅]的故事。

地点：a great garden 一个大花园。丑小鸭在这里看到了一些美丽的白天鹅，很想靠近他们，但是害怕自己会被美丽的白天鹅杀了，因为他长得这么丑，而别人长得那么漂亮，但是，他宁愿冒险也要呆在自己喜欢的鸟儿身旁。就在这时，他发现自己在严冬过后，竟然也长成了一只美丽的白天鹅，还受到了花园里人类孩子们的热烈欢迎。

《THE UGLY DUCKLING》

那么我们带着几个思考题去听故事，第一个问题：为什么丑小鸭对自己说：感谢以前经历的那些悲伤和不幸，还有重重艰难？
第二个问题： 为什么花园里的小孩子会这么喜欢新来的天鹅？

• They bore him onwards 翅膀，带着他往前飞,
• until he found himself in a large garden before he well knew how it had happened 在他想清楚自己这是怎么回事之前，很快就来到了一个大花园.
• The apple-trees 这里的苹果树 were in full blossom 开满了花,
• and the fragrant elders 芬芳的树枝 bent their long green branches 弯下长长的绿色枝条 down to the stream 垂到了小溪里，
• which wound round a smooth lawn 小溪围绕着一块平整的草地.
• Everything looked beautiful 花园里的一切看上去都好美, in the freshness of early spring 一切都带着一种早春季节的清新.
• From a thicket close by 从附近的一个灌木丛里 came three beautiful white swans 来了三只美丽的白天鹅,
• rustling their feathers 清理着他们的羽毛, and swimming lightly 安静地游动着 over the smooth water 在平静的水面上.
• The duckling remembered the lovely birds 小鸭子记得这些可爱的鸟儿, and felt more strangely unhappy than ever 感觉心里有一种从没有过的，奇怪的难过.
• “I will fly to those royal birds 我要飞到那些高贵的鸟儿身边去,” he exclaimed 他自言自语,
• “and they will kill me 他们肯定会杀死我, because I am so ugly 因为我长得这么丑, and dare to approach them 还敢靠近他们;
• but 但是it does not matter 我不管了: better be killed by them 我宁愿被他们杀死 than pecked by the ducks 也不愿意被鸭子们啄, beaten by the hens 被母鸡打, pushed about by the maiden who feeds the poultry 被那个喂鸡的女仆推,
• or starved with hunger in the winter 或者在冬天里忍饥挨饿.”
• Then he flew to the water 然后他就飞到了水中, and swam towards the beautiful swans 朝着美丽的天鹅游了过去.
• The moment they espied the stranger 天鹅们一窥见这只陌生的鸟, they rushed to meet him 就朝他冲了过来 with outstretched wings 急促地扑打着翅膀.
• “Kill me 好吧，杀了我得了,” said the poor bird 可怜的鸟儿说道;
• and he bent his head down 他把头低下 to the surface of the water 贴着水面, and awaited death 等待死亡.

• But 但是what did he see 你瞧他看见了什么？ in the clear stream below 在身下清澈的溪流中?
• His own image 他看见了自己的倒影;
• no longer a dark gray bird 他不再是一只深灰色的鸟, ugly 丑陋 and disagreeable to look at 看不下去,
• but a graceful and beautiful swan 现在，他是一只优雅美丽的天鹅.
• To be born in a duck’s nest 你看，出生于一个鸭窝里, in a farmyard 一个农家院子, is of no consequence to a bird 对一只鸟其实并没有什么影响,
• if it is hatched from a swan’s egg 只要，它是从一个天鹅蛋里孵出来的
• He now felt glad at having suffered sorrow and trouble 他现在很庆幸自己经历过悲伤，和困苦,

• “See 你们看,” cried the youngest 最小的那个孩子大喊,
• “there is a new one 这里来了一个新成员;”
• and the rest were delighted 其他孩子也都非常兴奋, and ran to their father and mother 纷纷朝着他们的父亲和母亲跑去, dancing 跳着 and clapping their hands 拍着手, and shouting joyously 高兴地大呼小叫,
• “There is another swan come 花园里来了另外一只天鹅; a new one has arrived 一只新天鹅来了.”

因为他意识到，经历过困苦，欢愉和幸福才会更加甘甜。

Question 2:
为什么花园里的小孩子会这么喜欢新来的天鹅？,
my opinion is:
美好的事物如果不请自来，都是让人非常开心的事情，一般来说，这是表示，这个地方很好。

Question from previous lesson:
为什么这只丑小鸭经历了这么多磨难，还活了下来？，
我的看法是：
丑小鸭内心是很顽强的，他虽然总是孤身一鹅，但总是努力为自己创造活下去的条件。

昨天第二个思考题：
为什么丑小鸭那么怕人？，
我认为：
因为他小时候，那个喂鸡的姑娘看到他丑，老是踢他。
